I bought a Park & Ride permit and preferred the shuttle every 5 minutes to waiting around half an hour for a bus as I have in the past, so don't let that be discouraging. Has a fairly luxurious kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, oven, plenty of cabinets, lots of counter space, a walk-in pantry, and a laundry closet with washer and dryer. Sliding glass doors with a small patio which opens up to a vast yard area that isn't technically part of the property but is fair game for sports and good old fashioned screwing around. The room I'm looking to give up is admittedly tiny, but the common area makes up for it and with a little creativity, I made it work. Come by and see for yourself. A lot nicer than it's price tag, it's probably the cheapest place you can find in Lawrence. The other three roommates are very quiet (they're girls, by the way)-- one is a grad student at KU, the other two are students who take online classes for other universities and work full time all day. The only utility you pay is electricity, and when it was super cold in the winter, it only came out to be about $40/person. The room is very spacious and the bathroom is absolutely huge. The room is also fully furnished; it includes a queen-size bed, desk, bedside table and four-drawer dresser. Pets are allowed here, but I don't know how the roommates feel about them.
